Prof. PhD. Mag. Werner Hackl

Trombonist, music educator

President of the Austrian Society of Contemporary Music

Born in Krems/Danube Austria, Mr. Hackl first joined to the Boys Choir and was eager to learn piano and  trombone in the Music-School. Then he studied trombone at University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, and graduated as Magister artium and finally as Doctor of Philosophy. It’s said that Vienna is the world capital of music and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna is one of the most outstanding places to study. Werner Hackl has the great privilege to live, to study and to work as a music professor in Vienna, to get his knowledges from that world famous University of Music and to give back his experiences to his students.

 

For four years Werner Hackl served at the Army Band of Guards in Vienna and became afterwards member of the Tonkuenstler Symphony Orchestra in Vienna where he played trombone in the Golden Hall of Musikverein and many other concert halls and places in Vienna. At the same time he has been teaching brass ensemble as Professor of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. As leader of Wind-Ensemble as well as conductor of the Artists Orchestra Vienna he toured through many countries all over the world including USA, South America, Japan and China. Since many years he had the great opportunity to conduct concerts and to teach as orchestra educator. As president of the Austrian Society of Contemporary Music he has been organizing workshops and concerts in the country and around the world. In his doctoral thesis he researched the Music in Vienna from Monarchy to Austria’s entry to the European Union. As the Vice- President of the Artistic Committee of the World Orchestra Festival he presents the élites of music to many young musician and ensembles. For his outstanding contribution in music and music education Mr. Hackl had been honored by the Federal President of Republic Austria.
